Description: The Armley Hippo (or Leeds Hippopotamus) is a fossilised skeleton which was dug up in Armley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The red cross shows the location (81 Town Street, Armley) of the pavement plaque which commemorates the digging up of the skeleton by brickfield workmen in 1851 (although it says "1852"). The skeleton is now on display in Leeds City Museum.
