Image: Sorraia Stallion and Family Band at Ravenseyrie
Description: Sorraia stallion, Altamiro, prepares to drive his family band to a different location by lowering his head and pinning his ears as he begins to stride purposefully toward them. These horses are part of a trans-continental effort to preserve the wild genetics that have survived among the Sorraia horses in Europe and the Sorraia mustangs in North America. Altamiro and his family band exhibit the homogenous phenotype typical of the wild tarpan type horses. Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang Preserve on Manitoulin Island in Ontario Canada.
