Description: Sitting room in the Corones Hotel, Charleville, ca. 1930. The Corones Hotel was built for Harry Corones on the site of the old Norman Hotel. It has a frontage of 210 feet on Wills Street and takes up almost the whole space between Edward and Galatea Streets. It took five years from the time the foundations were laid until completion in 1929. It cost in the vicinity of 50,000 pounds. The hotel had some of the best fittings and features of any hotel of the time, with en-suite bathrooms, embossed ceilings, wood paneling and stained glass windows. It also featured a jazz hall.
