Description: Red Cross workers packing Christmas presents for the Fighting Forces during World War II, October 1942. Red Cross workers packing hundreds of thousands of Red Cross Christmas boxes to be sent to the men of the Fighting Forces, Monday 26 October 1942. Each box contained a one and a half pound packet of biscuits, two khaki handkerchiefs, a pack of cards or a game of Contack, a parcel of barley sugar, a packet of crystallised fruit or seeded raisins, a razor blade, a half pound tin of chocolate, a tin of 50 cigarettes, a book, and three packets of chewing gum. Packers, from left, were Mrs M. Thursby, Mrs. J. Stitt, Miss F. McLeod, Mrs. R. Reid, Miss G. McLeod (convenor for the day) and Sergeant P. H. Fraser. Commandant of the Red Cross Depot was Mrs. W. T.
