Description: Cythera (George Lennox Watson, 1874 - photograph by Nathaniel Livermore Stebbins). The Cythera was lost with all aboard in the great Blizzard of March 1888. William A W Stewart was skipper and owner on that ill-fated voyage. He bought the Cythera in Scotland in 1886 and he and his wife sailed her back to New York where he cruised and raced her for two years before his death. New York Times coverage of her fate
