Description: Steven Van Zandt at the dedication of the Alan Freed memorial in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, on May 7, 2016. Freed died in 1965 and was cremated. His ashes remained in the hands of the family until 2002, when they were put on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. The museum asked that the ashes be removed in 2014. The family sought interment at Lake View Cemetery. Van Zandt, a rock history advocate, suggested the idea of a jukebox-like memorial over the burial site.
