Description: Summer House, Moray House This unprepossessing building tucked away in the grounds of Moray House College has an unusual claim to fame. It was a summerhouse in the garden of the Moray House mansion in the Royal Mile and is reputedly the place where the Act of Union between England and Scotland was to be signed in 1707. The responsible Commissioners, sensing the menace of a gathering anti-Union mob, sneaked out of the garden into the Cowgate and made their way to a house near the Tron Kirk where the signing took place.
