Description: Talking wall A woodland walking path links the House of Falkland and the Pillars of Hercules at the north end of Falkland Estate. Alongside a straight section of this path is a dry stane dyke which has the name of the Talking Wall because it 'talks' (in broad Scots) about all the things that folk walking past it might be doing. The word YIRDIN on this stone low down on the wall means burying, and since there is an old burial ground at Kilgour, west of the Pillars of Hercules, this probably refers to walking in a funeral procession.
