Description: The Forth and Clyde Canal at Bonnybridge This photo was taken from where the main road crosses the canal. The hill in the background, with a trig point on it, is Cowden Hill. Travelling along the canal in the direction the photographer was facing, it is two miles to the Falkirk Wheel, five and a half to Falkirk, and six to the canal's eastern end at Carron Sea Lock (where a short stretch of the River Carron links it to the River Forth). Travelling along the canal in the opposite direction, it is thirteen miles from this spot to Kirkintilloch, and thirty miles to the canal's western end, where it meets the River Clyde, at Bowling.
