Description: The Gaucho: Found principally in parts of Argentina, Uruguay, Southern Chile, and Southern Region, Brazil, the gauchos made up the majority of the rural populatio. The subject was photographed in authentic habiliments, including poncho, greatcoat, bombachas, chiripá, wide leather belt festooned with silver coins known as a rastra, long-bladed facon knife, and a rebenque whip.
