Description: This plaque hangs on the outside wall of a brick building on Grove Street in Greenwich Village in New York City, on the site where Thomas Paine died. It was placed on the 9th June 1923 by the Greenwich Village Historical Society. The building now standing on the site is home to Marie's Crisis, a piano bar. The plaque reads, in part, "The world is my country; All mankind are my brethren; To do good is my religion;
I believe in one God and no more"
