Description: The periodical Engineering had an article about the torpedo boats built by John Thornycroft, on page 448-451 of its June 8, 1877 issue, accompanied by this illustration. This 'Figure 3' shows 76-feet boats built for the Netherlands and Italy, equipped with spar torpedoes on the drawing, but meant for Whitehead torpedoes in the Italian version.
