Description: Count Floris V of Holland, with which he grants to 'the people who live near the dam in the Amstel', or 'the inhabitants of Amsterdam' ("homines manentes apud Amestelledamme") toll-freedom within his seigneury, as compensation for the damage which they suffered from him and his subjects. Translated text from Latin to English: "Florentius, count of Holland, greets all the present letters of inspection. Let your honor know that we men, remaining at Amestelledamme, in restitution for the damages which we and our men have done to ourselves, have heretofore taken to be exempted from all the exaction of our tribute with their own goods, which we have brought or have taken away throughout our land. In witness whereof we have caused the present writing to be communicated under our seal. Given at Leyden on Sunday before the day of Simon and Jude the apostles, in the year of the Lord 100... the two hundred and seventieth quird."
