Description: Wicker tray with bowls of food cooked for the Buddhist monks of the temple of Don Det, Laos. Among the dishes, there are pieces of watermelon, boiled green leaves (like spinach), pork cooked with quarters of chayote, pieces of fermented fish and green chilis, cucumber, a red chili sauce, and grilled chicken. A bottle of mineral water also comes with that tray, and the straw basket in the center contains fresh sticky rice. Traditionally, these preparations are made by the locals in their own kitchens, and then delivered early morning to the monks, eating together in the temple with the people (but before them).
