Description: Tsukioka Yoshitoshi photograph, circa 1882. He was a Japanese printmaker and widely recognized as the last great master of the ukiyo-e genre of woodblock printing and painting. He was a disciple of Utagawa Kuniyoshi and later strongly influenced by Kikuchi Yosai. In addition to leaving behind rekishi-ga (historical paintings) and bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) works, he also worked on illustrations for newspapers.
