Description: Dorso-anterior view of a mumburarr whipray, Urogymnus acanthobothrium, a large species of ray from northern Australia. The apparently fresh specimen is presented out-of water on a fabric surface. Collected and photographed in Cambridge Gulf, Kimberley region, Western Australia by Peter Kyne of Charles Darwin University. Seen from above front, the head, eyes, and spiracles are clearly depicted; tail is shown curled around the body to fit in frame; the snout and dorsal surface are visible and foreshortened. Dorsal colour is yellow-brown and tail is white. This version has been slightly cropped from the original, before uploading.
