Description: Vallejo Street Crest in Russian Hill, 1906 after the earthquake; view of the Atkinson House (1032 Broadway), and Marshall Houses (1334–1336 Vallejo Street). It is not clear when the retaining wall along Broadway between Taylor and Jones streets was built, but it is believed that a developer, Joseph Britton, who graded off the top of Russian Hill and created housing lots along Broadway, had it built sometime after 1871.
