Description: "The view in the northeast direction of the south facade of the Villa Beauvoir, located at 2315 chemin Saint-Louis, Quebec City. The villa is located on the site of a historic estate that was part of the Jesuits' land. Beauvoir's first owner was Andrew William Cochran (abt. 1793-1849), a lawyer and member of the Executive Council of Quebec (Conseil exécutif du Québec), originally from Windsor, Nova Scotia. When Cochran died, the property was passed on to Henry Lemesurier, Jr., who quickly built a villa there. Razed by a fire in 1866, it will be later rebuilt in an identical manner. Five years afterwards, Richard Reid Dobell (1837-1902), a lumber merchant and Liberal MP in the House of Commons, acquired the estate and adjacent lands. He also remodeled the villa, now equipped with a greenhouse and an enlarged wing. The Dobell family lived there until 1921. The estate then belonged to the Notre-Dame Apostolic School, then from 1929, to the Marist Fathers (Pères maristes), who established their seminary there.
