Description: A twentieth century statue of the Virgin Mary and Christ Child, approximately 3 feet tall. The statue was donated to St Edith's church by the local community of Roman Catholic nuns, at the time of the Church's 900th anniversary in 1977. Almost certainly this was the first time the Virgin had been represented in the church since the Reformation. In the medieval era, the Church was a centre of Marian devotion and pilgrimage, with many miracles said to have been wrought by the Virgin.
