Description: Water balance of the Archegosaurus model. Like extant freshwater fishes, Archegosaurus was probably hyperosmotic to its environment and gained water by diffusion through the skin and the gills; the osmotic influx of water had to be compensated for by the production of dilute, hypoosmotic urine by the kidneys.
