Description: On 29 June 1918, Prime Minister William Massey and Deputy Prime Minister Sir Joseph Ward began a visit to New Zealand troops in France. The two leaders and their ministerial advisors travelled to Boulogne aboard the ship ‘Princess Victoria’. This photo shows them on their arrival, being greeted by naval and military personnel. Taken by the Official NZEF photographer Henry Armytage Sanders, this photo is part of what is referred to as the H series. The H series is a collection of official First World War photographs now freely available for anyone to download and use.
