Jerónima Nava y Saavedra (born April 25, 1669 – died May 31, 1727) was a writer and a Catholic nun. She lived in the New Kingdom of Granada, which is now the country of Colombia.

Her Life Story

Jerónima Nava y Saavedra was born on April 25, 1669. Her hometown was Tocaima, in what was then the Bogotá Province of the New Kingdom of Granada.

When Jerónima was five years old, her mother passed away. After this, she moved to Santa Fe de Bogotá. There, she decided to join the Santa Clara Convent.

She became a nun and lived the rest of her life serving the convent. She held many different jobs there. These included being a caretaker, a nurse, a secretary, and a choir vicar.

Her Spiritual Writings

Jerónima Nava y Saavedra is known for one special book. It is called Autobiografía de una Monja Venerable, which means "Autobiography of a Venerable Nun."

This book is a collection of 64 spiritual visions she experienced. She wrote these visions down later in her life. Her spiritual advisor, a priest named Juan de Olmos y Zapiaín, encouraged her to write this book.

In her book, she wrote about her deep spiritual moments. She also shared the difficulties she faced with her health.

Jerónima Nava y Saavedra passed away in Santa Fe de Bogotá on May 31, 1727.
