Johnsonville is a company that makes sausage. Its main office is in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. It was started in 1945 by Ralph and Alice Stayer. They opened a butcher shop and named it after their small town, Johnsonville, Wisconsin.
Today, Johnsonville is one of the biggest sausage makers in the United States. It is also the top sausage brand by how much money it earns. You can find Johnsonville sausage in more than 45 countries around the world. The company is owned by a private group, not by public shareholders. About 2,000 people work there. Michael Stayer-Suprick is the current CEO.
What Kinds of Sausage Does Johnsonville Make?
Johnsonville makes over 70 kinds of sausage! This includes popular types like brats, Italian sausage, and breakfast sausage. They also make chicken sausage, meatballs, and summer sausage. Some of their breakfast sausages are already cooked, while others are fresh for you to cook at home.
In 2021, Johnsonville won an award for a new product called Sausage Strips. These strips look and cook like bacon, but they are made from sausage! People really liked them in a survey of 15,000 shoppers across the U.S.
Johnsonville's Fun Sponsorships
Johnsonville likes to support fun activities. In 2017, they became the main sponsor for the American Cornhole League. Cornhole is a game where players toss beanbags into a hole. Johnsonville's director of strategic growth said they sponsor cornhole because it's played "where people enjoy our products—in backyards during barbecues and tailgate parties." This means the game fits well with when and where people eat their sausages.
In 2016, Johnsonville also started sponsoring BaconFest. This is a special event in Naples, Florida, that raises money for charity. It's hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Pelican Bay. About 7,000 people come to this one-day event to enjoy all things bacon!
