Jordi Mollà Perales is a talented Spanish actor, artist, writer, and filmmaker. He is known for his many roles in movies and TV shows. Jordi has been nominated three times for the important Goya Award for Best Actor. This award is like the Oscars in Spain. He was nominated for his work in The Lucky Star, Second Skin, and El cónsul de Sodoma.

Early Life and Education

Jordi Mollà was born and grew up in Barcelona, Spain. He studied acting at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. To learn even more, he continued his studies in Italy, Hungary, and England. Jordi speaks many languages fluently. His first languages are Catalan and Spanish. He also speaks English, Italian, and French very well.

Acting Career

Jordi Mollà's big break in acting came in 1992. He starred in the movie Jamón, jamón. In this film, he played a character who was in love with Penélope Cruz's character. After this, Jordi starred in other popular Spanish films. These included Stories from the Kronen and La Celestina.

His role in La Celestina earned him his first Goya Award nomination. This was for Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor. Later, his main role in The Lucky Star brought him even more praise. For this film, he won the Premios Ondas award and a Butaca Award. He also received another Goya nomination, this time for Best Actor. He was nominated two more times for Best Actor for his roles in Second Skin and El cónsul de Sodoma.

Jordi Mollà has also acted in many international films. He appeared in the action movie Bad Boys II in 2003. In this film, he acted alongside famous stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. He also worked on a big project called The Tulse Luper Suitcases. This was a multi-part film series by director Peter Greenaway.

Mollà has been in many other well-known movies. These include Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Knight and Day, Che: Part 2, Colombiana, and Riddick. He also appeared in In the Heart of the Sea and The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. More recently, he played Venezuelan President Nicolás Reyes in the second season of the TV series Jack Ryan.

Jordi Mollà started directing short films in 1994. His very first short film, called Walter Peralta, was nominated for a Goya Award. This nomination was for Best Documentary Short Film. Later, in 2012, he directed his first full-length movie, titled 88.

Creating Art

Besides acting and directing, Jordi Mollà is also a painter. He taught himself how to paint. In the summer of 2002, his paintings were shown at a special art fair called ARCO Madrid [es]. His artwork was displayed at the Carmen de la Guerra Gallery along with other artists' work.
