José Joaquín Casasús was born in Alzira, Valencia, a city in Spain. His family was quite important. His father was named José Javier Casasús Judici de Echarte. He was a knight, which meant he belonged to a special group called the Order of Montesa. This was a very old and respected order in Spain.

His mother was Margarita de Navía-Osorio y Roig. Her father was the Marquess of Santa Cruz de Marcenado. This means José Joaquín came from a noble family with connections to important people.

Education and Learning

José Joaquín Casasús went to school at the Colegio de San Pablo in Valencia. This was a good school where he learned many important subjects for his time. He studied Latin, which was a very important language for scholars and writers back then. He also learned French, another key language for educated people in Europe. Besides languages, he studied philosophy, which is about thinking deeply about life and knowledge. These studies helped him become a writer.
