What Jovita Does for a Living
Jovita is in the middle of a very fertile area called the Pampa Húmeda (which means "Wet Pampas"). Because of this, the town's economy mostly depends on farming and raising cattle. Farmers in Jovita grow important crops like soybeans, sunflowers, corn, and wheat.
Jovita's Story
Jovita was officially founded in 1905. The plans for the town were approved on May 15, 1907, and October 28, 1907. The land where the town was built was kindly given by two sisters, Magdalena and Jovita. The town was named after one of them, Jovita.
The town's first name was Pichi Tromen, "El Juncalito" Station. In 1906, its name changed to Santa Magdalena, Jovita Station. This name stayed until 1983, when it was finally changed to its current name, Jovita.

Jovita is located in the Italó area of the General Roca Department, within the Córdoba Province in Argentina.
The town is about 153.5 meters (about 503 feet) above sea level. Its exact location is 34°31' south (latitude) and 64°56'40" west (longitude).
Jovita is about 592 kilometers (368 miles) from Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. It's also about 425 kilometers (264 miles) from Córdoba, which is the capital city of the province. The Río Quinto river, also known as Popopis by the native people, is just 5 kilometers (about 3 miles) away.
