Juan Carlos Murúa (born July 17, 1935 – died March 26, 2023) was an Argentine football player and coach. He played as a defender and was part of the Argentine national team in the Copa América in 1959.

Murúa is best known for his time playing with Racing Club, a famous team from Greater Buenos Aires. He helped them win a championship in 1958. After Racing Club, he also played for Argentinos Juniors and Platense.

Coaching Career

After he stopped playing football, Juan Carlos Murúa became a coach. He managed several teams, mostly in the Buenos Aires area.

Teams Coached

He coached teams like Gimnasia La Plata and Platense. He also managed Talleres de Remedios de Escalada, where he led them to win a championship in a lower division. He even gave future famous coach José Yudica his first chance in management there.

Later in his coaching career, Murúa worked with teams in other parts of Argentina. This included Altos Hornos Zapla during the Nacional championships in 1983 and 1985.

Legacy

Juan Carlos Murúa is remembered as one of the top football stars from his time. His image from 1958 was even featured on a trading card in 2005. He also represented Argentine football at national events.
