Kōhei Horikoshi (堀越 耕平, Horikoshi Kōhei, born November 20, 1986) is a super talented Japanese artist. He is known for creating amazing manga series. Manga are Japanese comic books and graphic novels. His most famous work is My Hero Academia. He also created Oumagadoki Zoo and Barrage.
All of his main manga series have been published in a popular Japanese magazine. This magazine is called Weekly Shōnen Jump. My Hero Academia is incredibly successful. Over 100 million copies were sold by April 2024. This makes it one of the best-selling manga series of all time!
About Kōhei Horikoshi
Kōhei Horikoshi was born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He went to Toho High School. Later, he studied at Nagoya University of Arts. Before becoming a famous manga artist, he worked as an assistant. He helped another manga creator named Yasuki Tanaka. Tanaka created series like Summer Time Rendering.
His Inspirations
When Kōhei Horikoshi was a kid, he loved reading manga. Some of his favorite series were Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto. These famous manga likely inspired his own stories. He was also influenced by another manga artist, Yuko Osada.
Besides Japanese manga, Horikoshi is a big fan of American superhero comic books. He especially likes Marvel Comics. You can often see this influence in his work, especially in My Hero Academia.
