LIANZA Young People's Non-Fiction Award facts for kids
The LIANZA Young People's Non-Fiction Award was a special prize created in 1986. It was started by the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (LIANZA). The main goal of this award was to celebrate and encourage excellent non-fiction writing for young New Zealanders. Later, in 2002, the award's name changed to the LIANZA Elsie Locke Non-Fiction Award. Then, in 2016, it became known simply as the Elsie Locke Non-Fiction Award.
About the Award
This award recognized books that taught young readers new things. Non-fiction books share real facts and information. They can be about history, science, nature, or people's lives. The LIANZA award helped highlight books that were both interesting and true. It showed how important it is for young people to read books that expand their knowledge.
