Las Tunas County Beach and Las Tunas State Beach are public beaches located in Malibu, California, in the United States. These beaches are managed by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors. They offer a place for people to enjoy the Pacific Ocean.

The name "Las Tunas" comes from the Spanish words for the fruit of the opuntia cactus, also known as the prickly pear. This suggests that these cacti might have grown nearby. Around 1986, the beach was described as a simple spot. It had a dirt parking lot, a lifeguard station, and a steep path down to the ocean.

The History of Las Tunas Beach

Las Tunas Beach has seen some interesting events over the years. In 1926, a very strong winter storm hit the area. This storm was so powerful that it washed 20 houses right off the beach.

Later, in 1943, a house owned by a famous actress named Natalie Talmadge was located at Las Tunas. Sadly, this house was destroyed by fire during that year.
