Leonor de Mascareñas (died 1583) was an important Spanish noblewoman. She lived a long time ago, in the 1500s.

Leonor was a close helper and friend to the Queen of Spain, Isabella of Portugal. Queen Isabella was the wife of Emperor Charles V. Leonor also had a very special job: she was the royal governess for Philip II of Spain when he was a child. This meant she helped raise and teach the future king!

Leonor de Mascareñas had a daughter named Maria de Morais de Mascarenhas. Maria's father was Jorge Pires de Figueiroa.

Father Jorge Pires de Figueiroa

Jorge Pires de Figueiroa was a priest. He was the first leader of a church in a place called Souto, in Portugal. He also worked for important people in the royal family.

First, he was a private chaplain for Queen Maria of Aragon. She was the second wife of King Manuel I of Portugal. After King Manuel I died, Jorge Pires de Figueiroa started working for the King's daughter, Infanta Isabel de Portugal (who later became Queen Isabella of Portugal). He traveled with her when she went to Spain in 1525 to marry Emperor Charles V.

After Queen Isabella died, Jorge Pires de Figueiroa returned to Portugal. He continued his work as a priest in Souto until he passed away in 1544.
