Lise Nørgaard (born Elise Jensen; 14 June 1917 – 1 January 2023) was a famous Danish journalist and writer. She was known for her clear and often funny stories about Danish life. Lise Nørgaard wrote many novels, essays, and short stories. Her book about her childhood, Kun en pige (meaning Only a girl), was very popular in 1992. Many people think it is her best work. This book was even made into a movie in 1995.

Lise Nørgaard's Life and Work
Creating Matador
From 1978 to 1982, Lise Nørgaard helped create and write the TV show Matador. This show was about everyday Danish people. They lived in a made-up town called Korsbæk between 1929 and 1947. Matador became the most successful TV show ever in Denmark.
Her Career as a Journalist
Lise Nørgaard started working as a journalist in 1949. She wrote for the newspaper Politiken. There, she wrote about homes and topics important to women. In 1968, she began working at Hjemmet, a weekly magazine. She was even the managing editor from 1975 to 1977. Her articles in the magazine were very popular. People liked her smart and funny views on Danish life.
Awards and Honors
Lise Nørgaard received many awards for her work. In 1982, she won the Publicistprisen. This is a special award for journalists from the National Press Club of Denmark. In 1992, she was named the Danish writer of the year. She received De gyldne Laurbær (The Golden Laurel) award. In 1994, she was honored with knighthood in the Order of the Dannebrog. This is a very important Danish award. Lise Nørgaard lived a long life. She turned 100 years old on June 14, 2017.

Lise Nørgaard passed away peacefully in her sleep. This happened on January 1, 2023. She was 105 years old.
