List of acts of the Parliament of Great Britain, 1755–1759 facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Imagine a time when laws were made by the Parliament of Great Britain, long before the United Kingdom as we know it existed! This list shows some of the important laws passed between 1755 and 1759. These laws touched on many parts of life, from how the army was run to how towns were kept clean and how people managed their land.

Each law has a special number, called a "chapter number." This number, along with the year it was passed, helps people find and refer to specific laws, even today. For example, a law might be called "28 Geo. 2 c. 1," meaning it was the first law passed in the 28th year of King George II's reign. Before 1793, laws were considered to start on the very first day of the Parliament session they were passed in, even if they were actually approved much later.
