The title of Lord Coupar (or Cupar) was another noble title in Scotland. It was created on December 20, 1607. The first Lord Coupar was James Elphinstone, who was the second son of the 1st Lord Balmerino. In 1669, the 3rd Lord Balmerino also became the Lord Coupar. From that time until 1746, the same person held both titles. This means the two lordships were "merged" or held by one person.
