Louis-François Jauffret (born October 4, 1770 – died December 11, 1840) was a French writer and teacher. He lived during the late 1700s and early 1800s. Jauffret was famous for writing fables, which are short stories that teach a moral lesson, often using animals as characters. He also wrote many books specifically for children and young adults.
Louis-François Jauffret had several well-known brothers. One brother, Gaspard-André Jauffret, became a bishop. Another, Jean-Baptiste Jauffret, directed a school for the deaf in Russia. His third brother, Joseph Jauffret, worked as a master of requests for the Conseil d'État, an important government body in France.
