In 2010, about 524 people lived in Magnolia. By 2020, the population had grown slightly to 535 people. The area was first settled in the 1780s. Many of the first settlers came from Virginia after the American Revolution, looking for new land.

Early Stagecoach Stop
Around the year 1850, Magnolia became a popular stop for stagecoaches. These were like early buses that carried people and mail between towns. This made Magnolia an important place for travelers.
Post Office and Name Change
A post office was built in Magnolia in April 1851. It was named after the postmaster's wife. Later, the post office moved to a new spot. This new location was first called Centerpoint. However, it soon changed its name to Magnolia, keeping the original name alive.
