Serving in the American Revolutionary War
In 1778, Aubenton became the captain of a ship called the Bien-Aimé. This was a powerful warship with 74 guns. The Bien-Aimé was part of a group of ships called the White-and-blue squadron. This squadron was led by Du Chaffault. All these ships were part of a larger fleet commanded by Orvilliers.
Aubenton and his ship took part in a major sea battle. This was the Battle of Ushant, which happened on July 27, 1778. This battle was a key event during the War of American Independence.
Later Life and Retirement
After his time at sea, Aubenton retired from the Navy. He held the rank of Brigadier des Armées navales. This was a high rank for a naval officer.
