Meʼma and the Great Mountain is an exciting adventure novel for young readers by Lorin Morgan-Richards. It tells the story of Meʼma, a brave Indigenous girl. She lives in a village called Sunken Creek. When a powerful villain, Baron Von Nickle, attacks her home, Meʼma must escape. She flees with only her special dolls, Xetacu and Tchesue.

Meʼma's journey begins as she discovers her amazing ability to talk with the spirit world. Along the way, she meets strange characters and reunites with her wolf, Bright Eye. Unusual animals also guide her. They help her overcome her fears and fight the Baron. The book includes a special introduction by Corine Fairbanks. She is an Oglala Lakota educator. She writes about how Indigenous people around the world have been affected by big changes, like new industries. This is a common idea in Richards' books.

Meʼma and the Great Mountain is the first book in the Great Mountain series. It introduces many characters and places. These include the mysterious The Goodbye Family.
