Miêtta Santiago's Fight for Women's Rights
Miêtta Santiago played a very important role in helping women gain the right to vote in Brazil. In 1927, she worked alongside Celina Guimarães Viana as a pioneer in the fight for women's suffrage. Suffrage means the right to vote in political elections.
In 1928, Miêtta Santiago bravely challenged the law that stopped women from voting in Brazil. She argued that this ban went against Article 70 of the country's Constitution at that time. Her actions helped pave the way for women in Brazil to finally get their voting rights.
