The Miami Women's Club is known for helping the community. They do many good things in the Miami area. A big part of their history is helping to create public libraries in Miami.

The club started in 1900. A group of women met every week to socialize and read together. In September of that year, they wrote down official rules. They called themselves the Married Ladies’ Afternoon Club. In 1902, the members decided to focus more on reading. They started lending books for a small yearly fee to people who were not members.

By 1903, the club had grown to 80 members. It then joined the State Federation of Woman's Clubs. In 1906, the group changed its name to the Miami Woman's Club. In 1912, Henry Flagler and the Model Land Company gave them land. This land was for a club building. The only rule was that the building must also be used as a public library. It had to be a free reading room for everyone. The club kept growing. By 1916, the Miami Woman's Club was the biggest women's club in Florida.

In 1923, the Miami Woman's Club opened a library just for children. They also sold their first building at Royal Palm Park. The club bought a new spot for their building. It was at Bay Shore Drive and NE 17th Terrace. They chose August Geiger to design the new building. It opened in 1926. The building was named the Flagler Memorial Library and Woman's Club. The club still uses this building today.

In 1924, the City of Miami started paying for the library's costs. Then, in 1942, the city took over running the Flagler Library. They also managed other local libraries. The club's Library Committee still helped by giving advice.

The Miami Woman's Club wants to support education and help the community. They do many activities to achieve this. The club has different groups and committees. These groups help them with their work. They focus on things like arts, education, and public affairs.
