Miguel Ángel Celdrán Matute (born March 4, 1940 – died January 28, 2021) was an important Spanish politician. He was a member of the People's Party, a major political group in Spain. He is best known for being the Mayor of Badajoz for many years.

Miguel Celdrán's Life and Career
Before becoming a politician, Miguel Celdrán worked in a few different jobs. He ran a driving school. He also worked as an engineer for the Spanish government.
Starting in Politics
In the early 1980s, he joined the Liberal Party. This party later joined with another group. In 1990, he became a member of the People's Party.
The next year, in 1991, he was elected to the City Council of Badajoz. This was his first step into local government.
Mayor of Badajoz
On May 26, 1995, Miguel Celdrán was elected as the Mayor of Badajoz. This is like being the main leader of the city. He was very popular and was re-elected three more times. He served as mayor in 1999, 2003, and 2007.

Besides being mayor, Celdrán also served in other important roles.
Senator for Badajoz
He was elected to the Senate of Spain, which is part of the national government. He represented the area of Badajoz. He served as a Senator for a short time in 2000. He was elected again in 2004.
Member of the Assembly of Extremadura
In 2007, he was also elected to the Assembly of Extremadura. This is the regional parliament for the area where Badajoz is located. He represented the Province of Badajoz.

Later Life
Miguel Celdrán passed away in Badajoz on January 28, 2021. He was 80 years old.
