Pío Leiva (born May 5, 1917 – died March 22, 2006) was a famous singer from Cuba. He was known for writing the popular song El Mentiroso (which means "The Liar"). Pío Leiva was also a part of the well-known music group called the Buena Vista Social Club. He created many famous Cuban songs.

Pío Leiva's Amazing Life
Pío Leiva was born as Wilfredo Leiva Pascual in Morón, Cuba in 1917. He showed his musical talent very early. At just six years old, he won a bongo contest! He started his singing career in 1932.
His Music Journey
Pío Leiva signed his first music contract in 1950 with RCA Victor. After that, he recorded more than 25 albums. He sang with many other famous Cuban artists. These included Benny Moré, Bebo Valdés, and Noro Morales. Pío Leiva was also a member of two popular groups: Estrellas de Areito and "Compay Segundo y Sus Muchachos."
