Where They Live

Cascade tree frogs make their homes in thick forests. They especially like places where the trees grow close together. These frogs prefer to live near fast-flowing streams within these forests.

Daily Life and Habits

During the day, the Cascade tree frog likes to hide. It often finds shelter under rocks in the stream. When night comes, the frog becomes active. It then comes out from its hiding spot to look for food.

Life Cycle

Female Cascade tree frogs lay their eggs in pools of water. These pools are usually places where the water does not flow quickly. A female frog can lay a lot of eggs at one time, usually between 360 and 730 eggs.

The eggs are sticky. They attach themselves to the underside of rocks in the water. They can also stick to plants or to the very bottom of the pool. After the eggs hatch, the tadpoles grow for about two to two and a half months. Then, they change into young frogs.
