Pedro José Jirón Rugama, often called "Peche Jirón," was a famous Nicaraguan football player. He was born on December 18, 1939, and passed away on September 7, 2018. Pedro played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both defend and attack on the football field. He is remembered as one of Nicaragua's greatest football talents.

Playing for Diriangén

Pedro Jirón spent his entire professional club career playing for one team: Diriangén. He played for them for 15 years, from 1958 to 1973. For eight of those years, he was the team's captain, leading his teammates on the field.

He was known as a "universal footballer" because he could play well in any position. He helped Diriangén win the Primera División de Nicaragua (the top football league in Nicaragua) three times.
