Pilar Pérez (born on 22 September 1973) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. She was known for her strong junior career and for representing her country in important team competitions.

Pilar Pérez's Tennis Career

Starting Young

Pilar Pérez began her tennis journey on the ITF circuit in 1989. She quickly made a name for herself. In 1990, she won the prestigious Orange Bowl tournament. This was a big deal because she was the first Spanish girl to ever win this famous junior tennis event.

Playing for Spain

When she was just 16 years old, Pilar had the chance to play for Spain in the Fed Cup, which is a major international team competition for women's tennis. She played in two matches as a doubles partner with the well-known Spanish player Conchita Martínez. Even though they didn't win those matches, it was a huge experience for a young player. One of these matches was a key part of the 1990 World Group semifinal against the USSR. Pilar stepped in when another top player, Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, was injured.

Pilar also played briefly on the main professional tour, known as the WTA Tour, from 1990 to 1991.

Medals for Her Country

In 1991, Pilar Pérez achieved more success for Spain at the 1991 Mediterranean Games. She won a silver medal in the singles event, showing her skill as an individual player. She also earned a bronze medal in the doubles event, adding to her achievements for her country.
