Pitcher & Piano facts for kids
Pitcher & Piano is a popular chain of restaurants and pubs found across England. It's a place where people can go to eat, drink, and relax with friends and family.
The Story of Pitcher & Piano
How It All Began
The very first Pitcher & Piano opened its doors in September 1986. It was located on Fulham Road in London. The company itself was started a little earlier, in August 1985.
Pitcher & Piano was special because it was one of the first pub chains in the UK designed to be very welcoming for women. A talented designer named Sheila McKenzie helped create the look and feel of the first place. She even became the managing director for a few years.
The company grew steadily. By 1996, when it was sold for about £20 million, it had 7 bars. Ten years later, in 2006, the chain had grown to 38 locations! This shows how popular Pitcher & Piano became over time.
Who Started It?
The company was founded by Andrew Bonnell. He started the business in August 1985, bringing the idea of Pitcher & Piano to life.
