Rafael Pérez Estrada (born February 16, 1934 – died May 22, 2000) was a Spanish poet and artist. He was known for his unique and experimental style in poetry and stories. He was often a finalist for Spain's important National Literature Prizes. Pérez Estrada wrote more than forty books during his life. His works have been translated and featured in magazines like Harper's Bazaar. A collection of his poems, Devoured by the Moon, was published in 2004.
A statue called Ave Quiromántica stands in Calle de la Bolsa, Málaga. This statue was created by José Seguiri and is based on one of Estrada's drawings.
Life of Rafael Pérez Estrada
Rafael Pérez Estrada was born in Málaga, Spain, on February 16, 1934. He studied law at the University of Granada. After finishing his studies, he worked as a lawyer in his hometown. In 1959, he moved to Madrid. There, he started his writing career. He wrote for different magazines and radio stations.
He returned to Málaga in 1960 and began to write more seriously. His first book was published in 1968. It was called Valle de los galanes. This book was a mix of plays, poems, and short stories. Rafael Pérez Estrada passed away on May 22, 2000.
