Robert Christopher Franks Jr. (born December 18, 1996) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Ibaraki Robots team in Japan's B.League. Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the Washington State Cougars.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Robert Franks grew up in Vancouver, Washington. He went to Evergreen High School. There, he was the captain of the basketball team for his last three years.
As a junior, he scored about 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds per game. He was named All-Region by The Columbian. He also received an honorable mention for Class 4A All-State. This award came from the Associated Press.
Before his senior year, Franks decided to play college basketball at Washington State University. The Seattle Times rated him as a three-star recruit. They also listed him as one of the top 25 recruits in the state. In his senior year, he was again named All-Region. He also earned another honorable mention for All-State.
College Career Highlights
Franks played four seasons for the Washington State Cougars. For his first two years, he mostly played as a substitute. As a freshman, he played in 23 games. He averaged 2.2 points per game.
In his second year, he played in all 30 games. He averaged 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds. Before his junior year, he lost over 25 pounds. This helped him become a starter.
Junior Year Success
As a junior, Franks was one of the best players in the Pac-12 Conference. He finished 7th in scoring with 17.4 points per game. He also averaged 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He was named honorable mention All-Pac-12. He also won the Pac-12 Most Improved Player award.
On January 13, 2018, he set a school record. He made ten three-pointers in one game. This was against California. He scored a total of 34 points in that game.
After his junior season, Franks thought about joining the 2018 NBA draft. He did not hire an agent, which meant he could still return to college. He decided to go back to Washington State for his senior year.
Senior Year Achievements
As a senior, Franks played in 27 games. He started 26 of them. He missed five games because of an injury. He led the conference in scoring with 21.6 points per game. This was the 24th highest in the whole nation. He also had the ninth-highest rebounding average with 7.2 per game.
He was named first-team All-Pac-12. He also became the first Washington State player since 2012 to be named to the NABC All-District 20 team.
Professional Basketball Journey
Robert Franks was not chosen in the 2019 NBA draft. However, he worked out for several teams. He also took part in the NBA G League Elite Camp.
Starting in the G League
On July 3, 2019, Franks signed a special contract. It was a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets. This meant he could play for them and their minor league team, the Greensboro Swarm. He played for the Swarm and averaged 18.5 points per game. He also had 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
On January 15, 2020, the Charlotte Hornets decided to let Franks go. He had not played in a game for the main Hornets team.
On February 4, 2020, Franks was traded to the Stockton Kings. This was another G League team. On February 19, he had a great game. He scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Joining the Orlando Magic Family
On November 27, 2020, Franks signed with the Orlando Magic. He was later waived, but then joined their G League team, the Lakeland Magic. He played 14 games for Lakeland. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.6 rebounds.
In the playoffs, he averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds. The Lakeland Magic won the G League championship in 2021!
On April 12, 2021, Franks signed a 10-day contract with the main Orlando Magic team. He signed a second 10-day contract on April 22. However, he was waived five days later.
Playing Overseas
After his time in the NBA G League, Franks went to play basketball in other countries.
- On August 28, 2021, he signed with the Brisbane Bullets in Australia. He played for them during the 2021–22 NBL season.
- On June 10, 2022, Franks signed a two-year deal with the Adelaide 36ers, also in Australia. He left the team after one season.
- On February 14, 2023, Franks signed with Hapoel Gilboa Galil. This team is in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
- Later in 2023, he joined the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins in Japan.
- Since 2024, he has been playing for the Ibaraki Robots, also in Japan.
