Roser Amadó i Cercós (born January 22, 1944 – died September 12, 2023) was a talented Spanish architect. She designed many important buildings and spaces. Her work helped shape cities, especially in her home city of Barcelona.

About Roser Amadó

Roser Amadó studied architecture at a special school in Barcelona. It was called the Higher Technical School of Architecture. She studied with another famous architect, Lluís Domènech i Girbau.

Important Projects

Roser Amadó worked on many exciting projects. She helped change old buildings into new ones. One example is the Fundació Antoni Tàpies (1986–1990). This building became a modern art museum. She also worked on the new home for the Archive of the Crown of Aragon (1990–1993). This is a place where important historical documents are kept.

She also helped redesign the historic center of Lleida (1981–1984). This big project included a Palace of Justice, a special elevator called Canyeret, the Cervantes school, and Marius Torres park.

Designing for the Olympics

In 1992, Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games. Roser Amadó played a big part in preparing the city. She helped design the La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou. This was the Olympic Village where athletes stayed. She also designed the Eurocity 1 office building (1989–1992) in this area.

Roser Amadó designed many different types of buildings. These include:

  • A residential building at Street Rec Comtal 20, Barcelona (1982–1985).
  • The main office for Air Products SA (1990–1994).
  • A storage building for Honda in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda (1992–1993).

  • The Chic & Basic Hotel in Amsterdam (2006–2007).
  • The House traffic lights and police headquarters in El Prat de Llobregat (2006–2009).
  • The Nuria Espert Theatre in Sant Andreu de la Barca (2004–2010).

Founding B01 Arquitectes

In 2001, Roser Amadó started her own architecture firm. It was called B01 Arquitectes. She founded it with other architects like Lluís Domènech, Ramon Domènech, Carles Cortadas, Sander Laudy, and Laura Pérez. This firm continued to design many interesting buildings.

Roser Amadó's work left a lasting mark on the cities she helped design. She is remembered for her creative and important architectural projects.
