History of the Museum
The museum used to be located in Bagshot Park, Surrey. That was until 2001. Then, it moved to a renovated stable building at Amport House in Hampshire. Amport House was once the main home for the Royal Army Chaplains' Department. It was also a training center for chaplains from all parts of the armed forces. The Ministry of Defence sold Amport House in 2020.
A brand new building was built for the museum. It is at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire. This new building is designed to save energy. It was opened on May 17, 2022. The opening ceremony was attended by the Countess of Wessex.
